Nazarbayev expected to visit Azerbaijan

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev accepted an invitation from his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Baku.

"I received an invitation from President Ilham Aliyev to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan the other day. I accept this invitation with pleasure. The exact timeframe will be agreed upon through diplomatic channels," Nazarbayev said at a meeting with the ambassadors of several countries in Astana on Tuesday.

Additionally, the head of state said that Azerbaijan was for Kazakhstan a strategic partner in the Caucasus region.

"Our countries are actively cooperating in the energy and transit fields, in the field of agriculture, tourism, education and in other fields," Nazarbayev said.
