Children who are allergic to peanuts were able to eat up to ten nuts a day without negative side effects, new research has shown.Yesterday, scientists at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge hailed ‘fantastic’ results after five-and-a-half years of trials. The immunotherapy treatment involved giving youngsters a small amount of peanut protein in powder form over six months.Among those to benefit is 11-year-old Lena Barden, who can now tuck into doughnuts – which contain traces of nuts – for the first time in her life. The study is the first in the world to have had such a good outcome, according to researchers. Dr Andrew Clark said: ‘This is huge – it’s a real first. The families involved say that it has changed their lives dramatically.’(metro.co.uk)ANN.Az
