The non-governmental Center for Legal Reforms in Azerbaijan has appealed to the European Court of Human Rights in connection with Azerbaijani nationals Shahbaz Quliyev and Dilqam Asgarov, who are being kept in Armenian captivity in occupied Nagorno-Karabakh.
A letter sent to the court on Jan. 13 included evidence of torture of the prisoners by their captors and other violations of their rights, said Anar Bagirov, head of the NGO.
The court was asked to look into the case of the prisoners as quickly as possible.
Quliyev and Asgarov were captured while vising their native district of Kalbacar last year.
Kalbacar is one of seven Azerbaijani districts surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh that were captured by Armenian forces in the early 1990s.
A third Azerbaijani national, Hasan Hasanov, was shot and killed by Armenian forces.
