The Norwegian authorities have signed an agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), according to which the kingdom will spend 2 billion crowns (more than 190 million euros) to finance the purchase of gas for Ukraine in the winter, reported from the Norwegian Government.

"Norwegian Finance Minister Trygve Slagsvold Vedum has signed an agreement guaranteeing NOK 2 billion in assistance to Ukraine in purchasing gas in the winter. Norwegian support is provided through the EBRD," the government says.

Norway is the second largest donor for the bank's work in Ukraine.

"Our support for energy supply is of great importance for Ukraine," Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeldt said.

In July, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced that the Norwegian Government would allocate 10 billion crowns to Ukraine in 2022 and 2023. Of this amount, 2 billion crowns were earmarked for gas purchases.
