More frequently thought of as a naughty pleasure for men – or obsession for adolescent boys - porn has traditionally been a taboo subject for women. However it seems that behind closed doors more women than expected are indulging in pornography.A new survey reveals that over half of women (55 per cent) watch videos with sexual content on their own at least once a month – with a further 40 per cent admitting to switching it on weekly.Laying waste to the stereotype that men’s libidos are higher than women’s, a surprising nine per cent of those surveyed confessed to viewing it daily. The majority of women prefer to watch soft porn (73 per cent), nearly half (47 per cent) tune into role play porn and 21 per cent enjoy fetish-related content. While the new generations sexually liberated women are embracing porn as part of their own sexuality, they are also more open to sharing it with their partner. The survey, conducted by Ann Summers, delved into the nation’s porn habits and discovered that 96 per cent of women have watched porn with a partner, with 58 per cent claiming it had a positive effect on their sex life.Nearly half of women said porn helps spice up their love life by helping them to find the confidence to tell their partner what they like between the sheets. A further 23 per cent said it brought them closer together as a couple.Given all this sexual inspiration and the ease of filming afforded by modern technology, it is perhaps not surprising that some couples are turning the camera on themselves.Over a third (40 per cent) of women admitted to making a DIY sex tape with an ex or current partner and 66 per cent filmed it on a Smartphone.(dailymail.co.uk)
