Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has discussed with the heads of law enforcement agencies the creation of a police guard, according to the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, reported from Armenian media.

According to Pashinyan, the new police structure includes four main components: patrol service, criminal police, community police and guard. Now a decision needs to be made regarding the Guard model. Once the plan is ready, it is necessary to begin its implementation.

The prime minister was informed that the draft law on the Guard had already been put into circulation, and now it was necessary to discuss the range of tasks, functions, scope and other parameters of the new structure.

In accordance with the reform plan, police troops will be demilitarized and reorganized into a guard. This unit will be entrusted with the functions of protecting public order and security, protecting government buildings and critical facilities, accompanying delegations within the state protocol, as well as ensuring the legal regime of martial law and states of emergency, etc.
