Paul Mason – once the world’s fattest man at 70st – has got engaged after his girlfriend popped the question.

Paul, 53, from Ipswich, Suffolk, immediately said “yes” to 8st Rebecca Mountain, 40, on ABC's The View TV programme in America.Ex postie Paul, now 22st, vowed to lose more weight. He said: “I don’t want to go down that aisle in a wheelchair.”Asked if a date had been set, Rebecca, of Orange, Massachusetts, said: “There’s so many things we need to do to take care of Paul first.“There will be another surgery for his legs but not for another six to eight months.” The pair met online in August and got together when he flew to the US to discuss having excess skin removed after shedding 48 stone.Paul said that a New York based plastic surgeon is willing to perform the treatment.“What she’s going to do is my tummy and my arms, both at the same time,” he told the show.“I thought just the tummy would be major surgery on its own, but she feels confident that because my health is good, she could do the arms at the same time. It’s excellent.”ABC's The View are going to help pay for the surgery – which is though to cost as much as £10,000 – as Paul is still waiting for help from the NHS.It’s thought he will return home later in the month before heading back out for the treatment later this year.(mirror.co.uk)ANN.Az
