Moscow is interested in peace, stability, and security in the Caucasus and will continue to develop relations with Baku and Yerevan, said Dmitry Peskov, Russian presidential spokesperson, reported from TASS.

He emphasized that the South Caucasus is not a distant region for Russia.

"And we want peace, stability, predictability, an atmosphere of mutual trust and security in the Caucasus. We have good relations with both Azerbaijan and Armenia, and we value these relationships. And we intend to do everything in our power to further develop these relations," said the Kremlin representative.

When asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin had recent contacts with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev and Armenia's Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Peskov replied that "there were no contacts during these [past] days."
