Türkiye is a mature democracy and can ensure transparent elections, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said during a briefing, reported from the Russian media.

He noted that the Turkish authorities will not allow illegal actions.

"Türkiye is a mature democracy, a strong sovereign country that is able to ensure transparent elections... and prevent illegal actions. We have no doubt about this,” Peskov said.

He noted that Russia and Türkiye are united by a very wide range of mutually beneficial cooperation. Peskov expressed hope that after the presidential and parliamentary elections in Türkiye, this cooperation will deepen. Among the areas in which countries interact, he named energy, tourism, trade, agriculture, trucking and air transportation.

"That is why we are following the news coming from Türkiye these days with great interest and attention. We will respect the choice of the Turkish people, but in any case, we hope that our cooperation will continue, deepen and expand,” he stressed.
