Poland inks deal to end blockade of border with Ukraine

The Polish government has signed an agreement with carriers, agreeing to end the blockade at three border crossings with Ukraine by March 1, said Polish Minister of Infrastructure Dariusz Klimczak,  reported from Polish media.

"We signed an agreement that consists of seven points, the effect of which will be to end the blockade at three crossings: Korčova, Hrebenne, Dorohusk,” he noted.

In early November, Polish carriers, later joined by farmers, blocked road checkpoints on the border with Ukraine. They demanded the restoration of the previously canceled permit system for Ukrainian commercial carriers, with the exception of humanitarian aid and supplies for Ukrainian troops, and the suspension of licenses for companies established in Ukraine after February 2022.

Polish-Ukrainian relations have become significantly more complicated due to the embargo on grain supplies from Ukraine. On September 15, the European Commission decided not to extend restrictions on the import of four types of Ukrainian agricultural products into several EU border countries.
