Officers from the Alhambra Police Department are going to have to send an edited version of their latest pursuit drama to the makers of Crazy Cop Car Chases.

A squad car was involved in the lowest-speed chase ever recorded when they were dispatched to arrest a tortoise that had made a bid for freedom from its owners. The hardened criminal, an African sulcata tortoise (aka Clark), was found wandering the streets of Alhambra on Saturday. He had apparently decided to make a slow getaway when his owners went out to a baseball game.Neighbours saw Clark’s escape attempt and contacted law enforcement officers. On the the police department’s Facebook page, the officers recorded: ‘The tortoise did try to make a run for it; but, our officers are pretty fast. Almost had a pursuit!‘It took two officers to take this guy into custody because it weighs about 150lb [75kg], and our cuffs… well not practical in this situation.’The owners were reunited with their pet the following day.Turtles and tortoises are allowed as pets in California, so long as they are more than four inches long – so they can’t be flushed down toilets or swallowed by children.Little chance of either happening with Clark.(metro.co.uk)Bakudaily.az
