Azeri president, Russian defence minister meet

The Azerbaijani president and the Russian defence minister have discussed regional security and expansion of the two countries' defence partnership.


"The high level of relations between our countries allows us to solve a lot of issues in the bilateral agenda, as well as issues related to regional security," Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in Baku at his meeting with Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoygu on 14 August.


Aliyev said that issues related to cooperation in military and military-technical sphere were discussed during the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on 8 August. He added that work had been ongoing for years to boost Azerbaijani-Russian military cooperation.
