German president says time needed to rebuild trust between Azerbaijan and Armenia

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier believes that Azerbaijan and Armenia will need time to rebuild mutual trust, Report informs.
Speaking at a joint press statement with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku, Steinmeier emphasized the importance of patience and sustained effort.
“We understand that it takes time and effort to restore mutual trust. It is a very long process. Both countries and their peoples will need more time. Reconciliation takes time, and we must not waste it,” he said.
He noted that the first step toward reconciliation is the signing of a peace agreement.
“I believe that the conditions discussed (for signing the peace agreement) are achievable, and both sides will come to an agreement. The barriers to peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan will be removed,” the German president added.
