Germany backs Middle Corridor, calls Azerbaijan key transport hub – Steinmeier

Germany places strong importance on the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), also known as the Middle Corridor, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier said on Tuesday during joint press statements with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Report informs.
Steinmeier highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role as a key hub at the intersection of major trade routes, noting Berlin’s support for expanding cooperation in the transport sector.
“Azerbaijan can play a vital role in developing our transport links with Central Asia, the Far East, and China. In this context, the Middle Corridor is a strategically important project for the German economy,” he said.
He also stressed that lasting peace and stability in the South Caucasus would further accelerate the region’s economic development.
