Azerbaijan accuses France of hypocrisy over South Caucasus peace efforts

The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry has criticized France for its “destabilizing interference” in the South Caucasus, calling it an obstacle to long-term peace with Armenia.
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Aykhan Hajizada said on X that France's supply of lethal weapons to Armenia and its “anti-Azerbaijani stance” contradict recent statements by French Minister Jean-Noël Barrot expressing concern over regional tensions.
“This duality exposes France's hypocrisy,” Hajizada wrote, adding that peace requires addressing Armenia's territorial claims and halting foreign interference.
He also criticized efforts to obstruct judicial proceedings against individuals accused of crimes against humanity, calling it a violation of justice and domestic sovereignty.
