ICRC visits Armenian detainees accused of war crimes in Azerbaijan

Representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) have carried out another visit in June to Armenian-origin individuals detained in Azerbaijan on charges of war crimes. This was reported by Ilaha Huseynova, head of the ICRC public relations department in Azerbaijan.
“In June, ICRC staff visited the Armenian-origin detainees whose whereabouts were confirmed by the Azerbaijani side. One-on-one meetings were held with them, and conditions were created for contact with their families. They also received parcels from their families,” Huseynova said.
She added that during such visits, the ICRC assesses the treatment and conditions of detention in accordance with its mandate. “The ICRC also supports the restoration or continuation of family contacts,” she noted.
According to ICRC procedures, all observations and recommendations related to such visits are shared and discussed only with the detaining authorities and are not made public.
