Mehriban Aliyeva and her daughters attend UN special session on childhood cancer

Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and her daughters Leyla and Arzu Aliyeva attended a special session at the 80th UN General Assembly focused on improving survival for children with cancer and other severe diseases, AzerTAc reported.
The session was organized by Uzbekistan and the World Health Organization. Participants included Uzbekistan’s First Lady Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus and Turkey’s First Lady Emine Erdogan.
Organizers said the aim was to raise global awareness of the issue, noting that about 200,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer every year and roughly half die.
The event continued with panel discussions.
