Putin to attend opening of Baku European Games

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Baku next month to attend the opening of the first European Games to be held in the Azerbaijani capital, APA reported, citing the Kremlin.

Putin’s press service said it will soon provide detailed information about the visit.

Baku will play host to the inaugural European Games between 12 June to 28 June.

There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of competition.

Baku was awarded the Games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in December 2012. The Baku European Games Operations Committee (BEGOC).
