President Ilham Aliyev and his family members visited polling station No 6 in Baku’s Sabail district to cast their ballots.
Voter turnout was 10.4 percent as of 10 a.m., according to Rufat Gulmammadov, a spokesman for the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
Of the 4,819,382 people eligible to vote, 501,254 turned out by 10 a.m., Gulmammadov said, adding that the CEC received no reports of irregularities in the balloting.
More than 37,000 candidates are running for 15,035 seats in municipalities across the country.
Of the candidates, 18,790 represent 30 political parties.
