President Aliyev receives outgoing US ambassador

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev today received Richard Morningstar, the US ambassador to Azerbaijan who has completed his diplomatic mission in the country.  

Aliyev and Morningstar had an exchange of views on the current state of Azerbaijani-US relations and prospects for further expansion of the ties, the state news agency Azartac said.

They said relations between the two countries "have developed successfully" in the fields of politics, economy and energy, Azartac said, without providing further detail.

Morningstar, who was appointed Azerbaijan ambassador in 2012, previously served as the US secretary of state’s envoy for Central Asian energy.
