President Ilham Aliyev today visited Adgam District, which is partially occupied by Armenian forces.
Aliyev met residents of the town of Quzanli, which is the administrative center of the district, the Azeri service of RFE/RL reported, citing local residents.
“It was an excellent meeting,” one resident said. “The spirit is very high because of the president’s visit to the frontline.”
Aliyev also met troops fighting against the Armenian army, according to news websites.
It was the president’s first visit to Agdam after fighting renewed with Armenians a week ago.
At least 13 Azeri troops have died during the fighting, according to the Ministry of Defense.
Armenian losses are much higher, but they have confirmed only six deaths so far, according to the commander of the Azeri army corps in the region.
