Punishment for illegal use of info constituting a commercial secret to be tightened

On the proposal of the Azerbaijani president, the articles  202.2 and 202-1.2 of the Crime Code of Azerbaijan is being changed. Azerbaijani parliament reported to APA News Agency.

According to proposed change in article 202.2 of Criminal Code, if information constituting a commercial or bank secret is used illegally or disseminated without the consent of its holder  out of greed or with the intent of other personal gain causing damage in the large amount envisages fine  3 to 5 penalty units of caused damage, correctional labor up to 2 years or deprivation of liberty  up to six months.

The current article in force envisages penalty ranging from 500 to 1000 AZN, correctional labor or  deprivation of liberty  up to six months.

According to proposed change in the article 202-1.2 of Criminal Code dissemination of document or information related with export control  causing damage in the large amount envisages fine  3 to 5 penalty units, correctional labor up to 2 years or deprivation of liberty  up to two years.

According to the current provision of article in force offenders face penalty ranging from 500 to 1000 AZN , correctional labor up to 2 years or deprivation of liberty  up to two years.

The proposal will be discussed at the upcoming plenary meeting of the parliament
