Putin inks law on confiscation of property for fakes about army

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law on confiscation of property for fakes about the Russian army and crimes against state security, reported from TASS.

The document was published on the official legal information portal.

The law amends the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and expands the list of crimes for which confiscation of property may be provided. Now such punishment can be established for the public dissemination of knowingly false information about the Russian Armed Forces and about the exercise of powers by government agencies (Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), as well as for public calls for activities directed against the security of the state (Article 280.4 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

At the same time, as follows from the document, not all money, valuables or other property of the person convicted under these articles will be subject to confiscation, but only those that were received as a result of committing a crime or used for activities directed against the security of Russia.
