Putin: No one in Middle East wants conflict to expand
25.10.2024 14:31
Russia is not interested in escalating the conflict in the Middle East, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following the BRICS summit in Kazan.

"We are very concerned about what is happening in the region [in the Middle East]. Whatever anyone says, Russia is not interested in the conflict getting worse. Strategically, we won't gain anything from this, we'll only see additional problems," Putin said.

He noted that Russia and Iran are in close contact.

"We see our role as creating conditions for settling the situation by finding mutual compromises. I think that no one in the region wants the conflict to expand now," the head of state emphasized.

Putin stressed that it is necessary to work with all participants in the process, including Israel, and achieve a reduction in the level of confrontation.
"I think that overall this is possible. But we need to act very carefully," the Russian president added.
