Thank to joint efforts of  the “Reporters without Borders”, Human Rights Watch, and the Turkish Human Rights (Insan Hakları Derneği),  a wife and two children of the  detained journalist Rauf Mirkadirov received temporary shelter in one of the European countries.

Prior to deportation  of Rauf in Baku (on April 18) Turkish authorities  deprived him of  his journalistic accreditation, and his wife was deprived the right to work; she was  also denied a visa extension and  was demanded to leave the country.

June 16 was the deadline, and on that day the family managed to  leave Turkey. But  departure was not easy: for unclear reasons, the family was detained at passport control at the Istanbul airport, and they missed the plane.
