EU eyes up to 35 bcm of Iranian natural gas by 2030

The European Union can import between 25 bcm and 35 bcm of natural gas from Iran under a best-case scenario estimate by its executive arm, Bloomberg reported, citing an unnamed EU official.
The current export capacity through Turkey is 5 bcm a year. The rest could reach the EU as LNG or via the so-called Southern Gas Corridor, the official said.
Gas supplies from Iran were discussed at a Sept. 4 meeting of EU Climate and Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete with representatives of European oil and gas industry officials, commission energy spokeswoman Anna Kaisa Itkonen said.
Azerbaijan has said it’s ready to export Iranian oil and gas through its export infrastructure, including the BP-led Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.
The Southern Gas Corridor is a set of existing and planned pipelines that will connect Baku with southern Italy via Georgia, Turkey, Greece and Albania.
