Azerbaijan reports 45% increase in foreign investment

Foreign direct investment in Azerbaijan's economy totaled 4.47 billion manats in the first eight months of 2015, an increase of 45 percent from a year earlier period, according to a State Statistics Committee report.
Of the total, 3.81 billion manats came from investors from the UK, Norway, U.S., Turkey, Japan, Iran, Russia and Sweden.
The UK maintained its status as the single largest foreign investor in the country, providing 1.23 billion manats, or 31.8 percent of the total.
UK company BP is the operator of Azerbaijan's ACG and Shah Deniz oil and gas development projects.
