SOCAR says Tanap will be 25 percent cheaper to build

The Trans-Anatolia natural gas pipeline (Tanap) will cost about 25 percent less than previously estimated, SOCAR President Rovnaq Abdullayev told reporters on Tuesday.
Abdullayev said tenders to build a 1,350 km section of the pipeline have been completed.
SOCAR’s previous estimate of the 1,850 km pipeline was $11.3 billion.
The pipeline is to export Azerbaijani natural gas to Turkey and the European Union.
SOCAR leads the project with a 58 percent stake. Its partners include BP and BOTAS.
