Azerbaijan back online after massive Internet outage

The country went offline for several hours at around 1600 local time after a fire at the company’s data center. 

"The problem has already been resolved,” said Anar Gulmammadov, a company official. "The Internet is back up across the country.”

Delta Telecom provides 90 percent of Azerbaijan with Internet. 

The outage, the worst Azerbaijan has ever seen, affected online banking and payments operations across the country. Some banks had to suspend operations as it became impossible to conduct financial transactions.
