Number of migrants coming to Europe plummets, shock figures reveal

Shock figures from the United Nations' refugee agency show just 25,000 migrants used the Med in March, down from 57,000 in February.
Migrants have reportedly been using the Balkan passage into northern Europe, a route which has been shut by the EU.
Europe is now set to begin mass deportations of migrants who arrived on the Greek islands after March 20.
The number of migrants slowed even more after the EU leaders agreed the deportation deal this month.
Figures showed a total of just 1,331 coming across the Med since March 21.
But officials warned the reduction in numbers could be down to bad weather.
Officials told the Telegraph preparations had a number of hurdles to cross before the system could be put in place.
An official said: "We are preparing, but the ball is in Turkey’s court.”
Greece is believed to have more than 50,000 migrants stuck in the country after the closure of the Balkan route.
Around 12,000 are being held in makeshift camps at Idomeni, on the Greek-Macedonian border.
