Or so it seems when you step inside the Presidential Cafe, a bizarre eatery celebrating the controversial leader in Krasnoyarsk.

Guests can get selfies shaking hands with a model of Putin and the bartender prepares cocktails and shots in the colours of the Russian flag.

In the toilets people can wipe their bums with Barack Obama’s face, which is printed on the paper, while walking all over NATO – whose logo decorates the floor.

The interior is decorated with the federation’s flag, wallpaper depicting the country’s history and – of course – photos of the Russian strongman himself.

He is also seen riding a bear on the menu, while the waitresses wear t-shirts declaring that they are Putin’s Team.

At midnight, guests are expected to show their respect as the Russian national anthem plays.

Manager Svetlana Laotian said: "No matter in what condition our guests are by that time, they are singing the anthem, if they know the words.

"We are trying to create a special atmosphere and to encourage people to talk about politics."

It follows the release of a perfume fragrance inspired by Vladimir Putin called Leaders Number One.

The manager said the restaurant was opened with a view to popularising patriotism.

She said: ”The inspiration was the lack of patriotism that we see all around us. We want to support patriotism and make it popular.

"Now we have a situation where the young and old in society are switching to foreign customs and traditions, like wearing T-shirts and jeans with foreign symbols on them.

"We want to show them that our country has many great things as well and number one on that list of great things is our great president."

Svetlana added that regulars may be seeing some new additions to the decor in the not so distant future.

"The toilets will have pictures of German chancellor Angela Merkel, Obama and presidents of other nations who supported sanctions against Russia hanging inside,” she said.

"Anybody who wants to can write something on the posters if they want."

An average cost of meals for one person at the restaurant is about 150 RUB (£1.50).
