France expects up to 100,000 Ukrainian refugees on its territory

About 7,500 Ukrainians have arrived in France since the start of Russia's hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, in total, the French government expects to receive up to 100,000 refugees, reported from TASS that this was announced on Thursday at a special briefing at the French Interior Ministry.

"To date, we have registered 7,500 people, who arrived from Ukraine to the territory of France," Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said, adding that 3,000 of them had arrived over the past two days. According to the minister, the French authorities currently have the capacity to accommodate 25,000 people.

"We are trying to prepare conditions for more people, the number of whom will be greater in the coming days or weeks," he said. "We need to be ready to accept 50,000, maybe even 100,000 refugees."

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), more than 2.2 million people, including 109,000 third-country nationals, have left Ukraine in the past two weeks.
