Armenian foreign minister hopes for soonest meeting on border demarcation with Azerbaijan

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan expressed hope that the meeting on the demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border would take place shortly, the Foreign Ministry's press service said, following foreign minister's conversation with journalists at a meeting of the Armenia-EU Partnership Council.

"The meeting on the demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, scheduled for May, has not taken place yet. But I can assure you that we will continue our discussions on organizing this meeting. There are some technical details that the parties must agree on. And I hope that it will finally take place in the coming days or maybe weeks," the Armenian foreign minister said.

At a meeting in Brussels on April 6 this year, with the participation of EU Council President Charles Michel, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan agreed to establish a joint border commission on border delimitation by the end of April. They instructed the two countries' foreign ministers to begin preparations for negotiations on a peace agreement.
