Baku to host international jazz festival

Baku will play host to an international jazz festival on October 19-30, state news agency Azartac reported.

The festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, will bring together acclaimed jazz musicians from around the world.

They will include Craig Taborn Trio, Terri Lyne Carrington quartet, Terence Blanchard quintet, Stanley Clarke from the US, Anat Cohen quartet from Israel, Michel Camilo from Dominican Republic, Trilok Gurtu from India, and Bebel Gilberto from Brazil, as well as Azerbaijani jazz musicians such as Salman Gambarov, Elchin Shirinov, Rain Sultanov, and bands, including Rast and Jangi.

The venues include Heydar Aliyev Palace, International Mugham Centre, Jazz Centre, State Song Theatre and State Philharmonic Hall.

The festival will feature an event marking the 20th anniversary of Rast at the Heydar Aliyev Palace.

The Terence Blanchard quintet and Stanley Clarke will also give concerts as part of the festival.
