Democratic Reform Party issues its decision on the winners of the award “For Continuation and Development of Hasan bey Zardabi and Najaf Najafov’s Traditions” of this year. 

The Political Council of the Democratic Reform Party issued its decision on the winners of the award “For Continuation and Development of Hasan bey Zardabi and Najaf Najafov’s Traditions”, which the party presents on the occasion of the Day of National Press celebrated on July 22.

Addressing the meeting, the chairman of the party Asim Mollazade said that the establishment of this award DRP wants to emphasize once again the importance of a free and professional press for the society. "The press has played a crucial role in the formation of civilized and democratic societies. Azerbaijani journalists work and develop our press in quite difficult conditions. We believe that everyone in every country, including the political parties, should back the media the press,” said A.Mollazade. 

Then the chairman of the DRP A.Mollazade presented awards to the journalists. 

According to the decision, the awards will be given to the following media outlets and journalists: 

1. Vasila Vahidgizi (Public Television) - for a successful TV project. 

2. Tapdig Farhad oglu ("Voice of America") - for professional lighting processes of socio-political and social life of Azerbaijan.

3. Afghan Gafarli (modern.az) – for contribution to the development of professional online media in Azerbaijan.

4. Imdad Alizadeh (mediaforum.az) - for objective articles on the social and political life of Azerbaijan and the activities of the Parliament. 

The main purpose of the award is to encourage the Azerbaijani journalists to continue enlightment traditions founded in 1875 by Hasan Bey Zardabi and reanimated in 1990s by Najaf Najafov, to fight tirelessly for the formation of the free, democratic and professional media and to give preference to unbiassed and reliable information.
