Mousavi: 3+3 format proposed by Azerbaijani president - successful regional initiative

The 3+3 regional format proposed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is a good opportunity for regional countries to jointly implement various initiatives and coordinate actions, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Seyed Abbas Mousavi said.
"This initiative has been very successful. We expect that the next meeting will be held before the end of the year already in Iran,” the ambassador said.
Speaking about the corridor connecting the main territory of Azerbaijan with the Nakhchivan autonomy by land, the diplomat reminded that Iran and Azerbaijan agreed to develop the existing corridor to help "Azerbaijani brothers move through Iranian soil to Nakhchivan."
"We agreed on the construction of a railway, on the creation of energy transmission lines, especially for electricity, which will be produced in Karabakh. We are also talking about the construction of two bridges across the Araz River, etc.," said the ambassador.
Expressing his attitude to the opinion that Iran is against the opening of the Zangazur corridor, which will provide the same land connection with Nakhchivan, the ambassador noted that there is no logic in this, as Iran is not opposed to this.
"In fact, we already have a functioning corridor with Nakhchivan, which has existed for almost 30 years. The population of Azerbaijan, cargoes cross the territory of Iran and enter Nakhchivan. This has been the case for these years, and this is how it continues now,” the ambassador said.
"In international relations, in diplomacy, we rely on one key element, which is that countries should not define their national interests in such a way that they will contradict the national interests of other countries, neighbors,” the ambassador concluded.
