Geological assessment of ore & non-ore deposits carried out in Azerbaijan’s Kalbajar, Lachin

In order to strengthen the mineral resource base, during the eight months of this year, geological exploration was carried out in the ore regions of the Lesser and Greater Caucasus, as well as in the East Zangazur and Karabakh economic regions, Head of the National Geological Exploration Service Ali Aliyev said.

He noted that geological, diagnostic and evaluation work had been carried out at the Goygol, Buzlug, Kungut sites, at the ore and non-ore deposits of the Kalbajar and Lachin districts. Based on the results of hydrogeological monitoring, changes in the hydrological regime of the region over the past 30 years have been revealed at the deposits of thermal mineral waters Yukhari and Ashagi Istisu, Minkend, Tutkhun, Mozchay, Garasu.

"More than 800 wells and 59 kahrizs, which are included in the groundwater cadastre, have been audited on the territory of Fuzuli and Aghdam districts,” he said.

He added that the geological work is currently ongoing in the southern region as a whole, and groundwater monitoring in the Jalilabad-Masalli zone.
