Erdogan: Türkiye not yet ready for Sweden's NATO accession

Türkiye is currently not ready for Sweden's NATO accession, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told CNN.

"Right now we are not ready for Sweden... Because a NATO country should take a firm stance when it comes to fighting terrorism," he said.

According to Erdogan, as long as Stockholm "continues to allow offshoots of terrorist groups to roam freely in Sweden, on the streets of Stockholm, we cannot look favorably on Sweden's NATO membership."
