Stoltenberg: NATO will remain regional alliance

The North Atlantic Alliance will remain a regional bloc and does not intend to expand globally, beyond the European continent, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg stated during a speech at the Council on Foreign Relations in the United States, reported from TASS.

NATO will remain a regional alliance, only European countries can join, he said, adding that NATO will not be a global alliance under Article 5 (the principle of collective defense).
