Korotchenko: Azerbaijan has de facto and de jure restored its territorial integrity
12.10.2023 14:00
As a result of all the events that took place in the South Caucasus region starting from September 27, 2020, and recent events within anti-terrorist measures of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the region, a new geopolitical reality has emerged, which is that Azerbaijan de facto and de jure restored its territorial integrity, Director General of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies, Igor Korotchenko, said at the online meeting "Development of the South Caucasus after the final completion of the Karabakh conflict,”.

The expert noted that the new reality in the region requires a new understanding: "How the region will develop further, what the interests of the key stakeholders in the situation are and what further formats of Russian-Azerbaijani interaction may be.”

The political scientist emphasized that Azerbaijan’s actions are in the logic of compliance with the norms of international law: "Any attempts at the present time by certain states, centers of power in any way to put pressure on Azerbaijan, to question the legitimacy of the measures taken and, moreover, to try to impose and in general for the countries of the South Caucasus, any elements or desires brought from outside are absolutely unlawful.”
