Russian expert: All issues of Karabakh to be regulated under Azerbaijani legislation

Russian expert: All issues of Karabakh to be regulated under Azerbaijani legislation
12.10.2023 17:00
Karabakh is Azerbaijan, and everything that will happen there in the future will be regulated exclusively by the legislation of Azerbaijan, the Director General of the Caspian Institute for Strategic Studies, Igor Korotchenko, said at the online meeting "Development of the South Caucasus after the completion of the Karabakh conflict,”.

The expert noted that Yerevan took a two-faced position: "We see a rather contradictory and often two-faced position from official Yerevan, which, on the one hand, recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, on the other hand, again tries to bring here the influence of external players. We see the absolutely destructive position of a country like France, which still not only supports Armenia, but seeks to torpedo any peaceful and creative processes in the South Caucasus region.”

He also emphasized that the attempts made by certain forces and circles to pit Moscow and Baku against each other were unsuccessful.

"We have just seen a very interesting format of the meeting in Baku of the Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, who was received by the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, and the successful development of our relations was stated, including on sensitive issues of security and interaction of special services. This once again shows the level of political interaction, which is based on the fundamental document of the Declaration of Allied Cooperation, signed between the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan,” said the political scientist.

According to the expert, it is necessary to exclude any presence in the South Caucasus region of foreign military contingents of states that are not participants in the events taking place: "We do not need fake peacekeeping contingents of the European Union or NATO here, especially since there is no legal basis for their military presence here.”
