Azerbaijan posts increase in passenger transportation by sea

In January-September 2024, the number of passengers transported by sea in Azerbaijan increased by 19.6% compared to the same period in 2023, reaching 21,400 people, according to the State Statistical Committee.

The volume of cargo transported by sea in Azerbaijan amounted to 6.36 million tons, which is 8.6% less than the corresponding period of the previous year. Oil cargo accounted for 47.6% of the total freight transport.

Seaports carried out loading and unloading operations amounting to 10.43 million thousand tons, of which 8.36 million tons or 80.2% were transit cargo.

As of October 1, 2024, the volume of cargo remaining in ports was 452,500 tons.
