Azerbaijan said on Monday that its army positions were subjected to periodic fire by Armenian forces in the Keshishkand and Basarkechar regions, escalating tensions between the two sides.

According to Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry, Armenian armed forces fired intermittently at Azerbaijani positions from 16:40 to 18:30 local time from locations near Almali in Keshishkand and Istisu in Basarkechar, using small arms.

There were no immediate reports of casualties. Armenia has not yet commented on the claim.
