Azerbaijan’s victory opened path to peace talks with Armenia, Aliyev Says

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Tuesday that Azerbaijan’s historic victory had opened the way for peace negotiations with Armenia, and that the positions of both countries on achieving peace have significantly converged.
“Our historic victory paved the way for peace talks, and I believe that today, the positions of Azerbaijan and Armenia on reaching peace have come considerably closer,” Aliyev said during a joint press statement with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, according to Report.
Aliyev expressed confidence that Steinmeier’s visit would yield positive results, noting:
“This is the first official visit of a German president to Azerbaijan in the history of our bilateral relations, and I am confident that its outcomes will bring our countries even closer.”
