Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan expressed hope that the crisis between Pakistan and India would be resolved through diplomatic means, Anadolu Agency reported.

"We do not want new conflicts either in our region or beyond. We hope that tensions between Pakistan and India will deescalate as soon as possible before they escalate further. Turkey’s Foreign Ministry and other agencies are closely monitoring the situation," Erdogan said.

He added that the recent visit of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to Turkey came at a difficult time for the region. "We reaffirmed our strong support for the brotherly people of Pakistan," he said.

On April 22, a shooting in Jammu and Kashmir killed 26 tourists and wounded about 20 others. India classified the incident as a terrorist attack and blamed Pakistan.
