Turkish Airlines to fine passengers for leaving seats too early

Turkish airlines will begin issuing administrative fines to passengers who stand up before the seatbelt sign is turned off, according to a new circular from the country’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation (SHGM).
National carrier Turkish Airlines has instructed cabin crews to politely but firmly inform passengers about the new safety rules, Turkish media reported on Monday.
A company spokesperson said the regulation is not only a disciplinary measure but also a matter of passenger safety. In previous incidents, standing up or opening overhead bins before the plane had come to a complete stop led to injuries.
