Russia redeploying air defense systems to bolster Crimea’s protection – Ukraine

Russia is relocating air defense systems from other regions to strengthen protection over Crimea, a Ukrainian military spokesperson said on Monday.
“The density of air defense systems on the peninsula is higher than in many parts of Russia,” said Dmytro Pletenchuk, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Navy, according to Radio Svoboda.
He noted that Western sanctions and a shortage of microelectronics are limiting Russia’s ability to replace destroyed systems. Despite Ukraine’s successful strikes on several Russian air defense sites, kamikaze drones continue to be launched from Crimea.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia has deployed a significant number of systems to the peninsula, including the advanced S-500 platforms, and is focusing efforts on protecting strategic targets such as the Crimean Bridge, which has previously come under Ukrainian attack.
