Russia deploys electronic warfare systems near Kremlin after drone attacks

Russia has deployed military vehicles equipped with electronic warfare (EW) systems near the Kremlin, amid a surge in Ukrainian drone attacks, Russian Telegram channels reported on Tuesday.

EW vehicles were spotted on Bolshoy Kamenny and Bolshoy Moskvoretsky bridges. Mobile internet was reportedly disrupted in central Moscow.

The Kremlin serves as the official residence of President Vladimir Putin and hosts state ceremonies, including awards for soldiers involved in Ukraine.

According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, air defenses shot down 61 drones over the capital region overnight. The Russian Defence Ministry said more than 300 drones were neutralized across the country in the past 24 hours.

The attacks disrupted operations at Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo airports, with over 160 flights delayed, the transport prosecutor’s office said, citing the activation of the “Kover” air safety protocol.

Mobile internet outages were also reported in Vladimir, Tula, Voronezh, and Lipetsk regions.
