U.S. not considering Ukraine’s NATO membership — Trump envoy

The United States is not currently considering Ukraine’s membership in NATO, Donald Trump’s special envoy Keith Kellogg said, citing the requirement for unanimous approval from all 32 alliance members.

“We are not the only country that thinks this way. I can name four NATO countries that share our position,” he said.

Kellogg added that representatives from the United States, Germany, France, and the United Kingdom would be in Istanbul on June 2, when a potential meeting between Russian and Ukrainian delegations could take place.

Earlier, Kellogg called Russia’s concerns about NATO’s eastward expansion “understandable” and noted that former President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin had developed “strong personal relations.”

In a post on the social media platform X, Kellogg also criticized Russian Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev’s comments on a possible third world war, calling them “reckless” and saying that fueling fears of a global conflict was an “unfortunate and inappropriate comment” for a representative of a major power.
