Erdogan proposes Istanbul nuclear talks between Trump and Pezeshkian

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan has proposed hosting a meeting in Istanbul between U.S. President Donald Trump and newly elected Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to revive stalled nuclear negotiations, Turkish pro-government daily Hürriyet reported on Monday, citing sources.
According to the report, Erdogan made the offer as part of efforts to de-escalate tensions in the Middle East. “When Erdogan first suggested to Trump that he meet Pezeshkian in Istanbul, Trump responded that his plane was ready and he could fly,” the newspaper said.
Meanwhile, Trump said he may send Vice President J.D. Vance or special envoy Steven Witkoff to engage in talks with Iran over the conflict with Israel.
“I might,” Trump told CBS News reporter Jennifer Jacobs, adding: “It depends on what happens when I get back.” The comments were made aboard his plane en route from Canada to the United States.
